Contribution to Resonance

What are we talking about when we talk about technique in contemporary dance? Is there a common imaginary in relation to technique? Or is it time, perhaps, to return to the questions, to ask ourselves what a training in dance needs today? What are we preparing for? What are we interested in moving when dancing? Is it really only the body that moves the dance? What do we call being “a good interpreter”?

It may be that so many years of dedication to this profession make more questions arise today... or it may be that in this profession we are interested in not stopping asking ourselves questions.

Faced with so many new pedagogies full of possible paths for learning and personal development, I feel it is essential that we collect, bring, or recover, in our practices, values that I consider intrinsic to our profession: group work, observation, collaboration, possibility of learning from others, of copying, generosity, contact, dialogue, feedback, among others. The classes will start from practices that activate both the body and the thought, and through them we will open more and more questions.
