CONSTANZA BRNCIC

AT RESONANCE...

I would like to investigate the notions of "making space" and "making time" by playing with different parameters that cause changes in the magnitude and state of space and time. Thus, we can "expand time", "expand space", "suspend time", "leave space", "waste time", "lose space" ... Make space and time within the body, between bodies, in space.

This proposal stems from the work that I have been doing on the experience of moving objects and also on the research around three qualities of the stop: suspension, detention, leaving. At this junction I have observed how the animal, the ghostly, the poetic, the mechanical and the human manifest themselves on the fine border between deciding / not deciding. I would like to take this opportunity to put these proto-practices into play and open them to the manipulation, play and reflection of the group.

BIO

She has developed her particular look at the body and the stage for more than 25 years. She is trained in contemporary dance, new dance and theater in New York and traveling through Europe. She has a degree in Philosophy and a Master in Contemporary Thinking by the UB, and is currently a PhD student in Contemporary Philosophy and Classical Tradition, with the thesis directed by Josep Maria Esquirol, Expression and Otherness in Merleau-Ponty.

She is interested in the work developed by the Japanese choreographers Min Tanaka and Hisako Horikawa, Body Weather, which understands the body as a multiple and changing entity. To this line of work is added the important influence of the perception and composition work developed by the American choreographer Lisa Nelson (Tunning Scores).

In 2000 she founded the La Sospechosa Cultural Association, an entity with which she carries out and produces numerous projects that have in common an investigation on the relationship of the body and the environment, on the teaching/learning relationship and seeks to put artistic action in unusual contexts to generate a critical reflection on the social role of art and in particular of the performing arts.

She has received numerous commissions as stage director and choreographer such as the direction of the participatory opera El Monstruo del Labertint by Jonathan Dove, (commissioned by the Grec Festival in Barcelona 2018) or the concert for children Planeta Clarinete, commissioned by the Auditori which is programmed since 2015. Currently she combines her creative work with the teaching of Composition and Improvisation and is director of the specialty in Choreography and Interpretation at the Superior Conservatory of Dance (CSD / Institut del Teatre) as well as visiting professor at the Superior School of Dramatic Art (ESAD / Institut del Teatre).
